We moved out of our San Carlos home at the end of April, doing a HUGE renovation, adding a second level and completely remodeling everything. We made many changes to the original blueprint, (like deciding to raise the ceilings right before work was to begin) and we were still back in our home a few days before Thanksgiving. Matt has a unique gift of making things move along while maintaining excellence. Matt does a superb job of hiring and keeping his subs for a long time. Everyone was always on time, on task, clean, and hardworking. In addition to their skills, they were all wonderful people to work with, making the process fun and enjoyable! Matt and his crew build each home as if it were their own. The quality and craftsmanship is outstanding. Doug could think "outside the box" in ways we never imagined. There seemed to be no problem Doug couldn't solve. (for example, the placement of our stairs didn't fit with the original blueprint... the measurements were off, but Doug redesigned them, working overtime just to make it right). The end result was incredible. Better than the original! He did this again with some old corner cabinets we wanted saved...renovating them so they would look beautiful in our dining room. Any issue that came up, Matt and Doug would brainstorm and find a solution. And, they managed to do this without creating stress on us. In fact, it was just the opposite. They did everything with grace, humor, patience, and dedication. Matt and his crew were also fantastic at working with designers, or anyone brought in on the project. Matt's son, Matt was also an integral part of the process and so great to work with. He was always responsive, e-mailing back right away, helping solve any problem, and giving great feedback and ideas. He is smart and is such an asset to Allwood Construction. We would be happy to talk with anyone who is thinking about a major or minor remodel. We would do it all again in a heartbeat. It was such a great 7 months working daily with Allwood Construction.
